August Development Camp
A few short weeks after WSDC 2023, co-coaches Brent and Arsalan met the new development team in Toronto for a week of training and getting to know one another.
This year’s highlight was the massive number of alumni who came to provide lectures, judge rounds, and debate against the new team. Their feedback, wholesome welcome videos, and impressive debate speeches set the tone for the week.
The team left for their respective provinces feeling energised and ready for the 2023-2024 season.

Pacific Schools Open
This fall, the new team also participated in their first events of the season. At Pacific Schools Open, all three teams broke to Quarterfinals. One of our teams went on to defeat Team USA in the semi final, and walked away as the tournament champions after an excellent final against Team Korea. Congratulations to Jin, Jinjou, Summit, and Isabelle for taking home the title!
Team Canada also placed highly in speaks including top 20 finishes from Neil He (3rd), Jin Zhou (9th), Summit Kawakami (13th), Jinjou Wang (17th), and Miriam D’Amico (18th).
A big congratulations to the whole team for performing extremely well at their first big event of the season.
Next up, the team plans to go to a series of in-person tournaments including the Winter Holidays Open in Croatia this December. Best of luck to everyone headed to the tournament!
