New Orleans Development Camp

Fall was a busy season for the 2024-2025 development team. In addition to the annual summer training camp in Toronto, students travelled to New Orleans with co-coaches Brent Schmidt and Arsalan Ghaemi for workshops and spars with team USA .
Along with the many hours of helpful feedback and challenging rounds, the team was able to sample much of what New Orleans had to offer. Fancy street cars, karaoke, and football games were all heavily featured.
Winter Holiday Open
Canada’s annual trip to Croatia for Winter Holiday Open (WHO), also happened to be the team’s first tournament of the year.

Zagreb remains a stunning place to be during Advent. The team explored old churches, museums, and every Christmas market they could get their hands on during down time.
Canada saw great success at this year’s WHO walking away as the tournament champions, while also securing the top speaker award. All three Canadian teams broke, with several students in the top 20 speakers. Congratulations to:
- Tournament champions, breaking 12th- Team Margaret Atwood: Hannah Liu, Ann Wang (15th speaker), Kelvin Fan, and Miriam D’Amico
- Octo finalists, breaking 2nd- Team Wayne Gretzky: Jinjou Wang (1st place speaker) , Lucas Le (3rd place speaker), Jade Wang (4th place speaker), and Grace Liu (6th place speaker)
- Octo-finalists, breaking 5th – Team Celine Dion: Hannah Li, Emily Zhao, Jin Zhou (12th speaker), and Sarah Li (14th speaker)
Moving into the new year, Team Canada is headed to Singapore for a training camp, along with our annual trip to Harvard WSDC.
